Not every interior can carry vermilion. The ivory ground keeps the full complexity of the medallion — the gates, the guardian ring, the central axis — but lowers the volume, so the cushion sits comfortably in a linen or oak room. The gold outline is stamped at a lighter pressure to keep the surface soft.
