Crimson is the colour of the outer lotus ring, the boundary between the ordinary world and the palace at the centre. Placed against dark leather or walnut, this cushion behaves like a lit lamp in a room. The palette was drawn from a nineteenth-century Kathmandu thangka studied by our founder during a 2019 research trip to the Kathmandu Valley, where the original nine-panel series was completed.
