The paired golden fish are among the Eight Auspicious Symbols of Himalayan Buddhism. Here they move in a continuous circle among peonies, carrying associations of abundance, ease, good health and joyful completion. The composition is more figurative than the geometric mandalas, making it a warm companion piece in a mixed cushion arrangement.
